Rebecca isn't bothered by the damage because it's just their kids' unsophisticated art, but Jack is upset by the way she's been "ripping on the kids" all day. The leak there destroyed a box of the kids' art, including the picture that still hangs on the wall in the present. She then glances at a framed picture of the children's art on the wall, which brings her back to the weekend at the cabin with Jack.
He comes every single night to wait for news on her, parking in the spot marked with his wife's favorite number for luck. Toby agrees to moves his van.īack at the cabin, Miguel hands Rebecca a terrible cocktail, which leads them to reminisce about their honeymoon in Puerto Rico. She is on a ventilator, and after 55 years together, he's forced to wait in the parking lot instead of by her side thanks to the hospital's protocols. While he seems belligerent, the man eventually reveals his attitude is a result of the painful reality that he is waiting to find out if his wife will live or die due to COVID-19. Randall shares his birth mother's life story with Madison as her contractions escalate, while in the hospital parking lot an old man drives up to Toby and claims he's in his spot. Back in the present, Rebecca asks Miguel for a cocktail to soothe her nerves as she anxiously checks her phone, hoping for news. Rebecca lists all the annoying teen habits she won't miss, which frustrates Jack. But before Jack can articulate why he's upset, Rebecca discovers a leak in the ceiling and they investigate the damage. The episode then flashes back to Rebecca and Jack's arrival at the cabin for their weekend away from the kids. Inside, Kate is acting as the birth partner for Ellie, the birth mother of her and Toby's baby. Meanwhile, due to COVID-19 protocols, Toby is stuck in the parking lot outside the hospital where he's making a list of potential middle names for his and Kate's new baby. Randall comforts Madison and promises that even if Kevin does not make it, he and Beth will stay with her as long as it takes so she won't be alone. The episode continues with Randall and Beth in the car speaking with Madison in labor at the hospital. That fact does little to absolve her of her guilt about missing the birth of both Kate's and Kevin's babies, though. She has no idea if Kevin made his flight to Los Angeles to make the birth of his twins, but at least knows Randall is keeping Madison company over video chat. She's stressed out because she's so far away from the rest of her family. Next the episode cuts to present-day Rebecca who she is still at the cabin with Miguel. Instead they arranged sleepovers with their friends, shocking their parents.
